The Benefits of Reciting Surah Ar-Rahman

Hadith – 1
The Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) recited Surah Ar-Rahman to his companions, who remained silent. He subsequently shared that he had conveyed this Surah to the jinn, who responded enthusiastically. When the Prophet recited the verses, “And which of the favors of your Lord will you deny?” the jinn acknowledged, “There is nothing among your bounties that we can deny; all praise belongs to Allah.”

Hadith – 2
Abdullah Ibn Mas’ud (Radi Allahu Anhu) reported that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) stated, “Everything has an adornment, and the adornment of the Qur’an is Surah Ar-Rahman.”

Virtues of Surah Ar-Rahman
Surah Ar-Rahman serves as a profound reminder of Divine Mercy. It compels us to recognize the multitude of gifts bestowed upon us by Allah. This includes not only the fundamental aspects of life—trees, sustenance, our environment, clean air and water, and our health—but also our cherished relationships with family and friends. Often, we overlook these blessings, yet they hold significant importance in our lives.

The Surah emphasizes that we should never take these Divine Favours for granted. The recurring question, “Which is it, of the favors of your Lord, that ye deny?” reinforces this message and encourages us to acknowledge every blessing we receive.

In its historical context, the disbelievers' ongoing denial of truth and their oppressive actions against Muslims exemplified ungratefulness and blindness to Allah's greatness. The repetition of “Which is it, of the Favors of your Lord, that ye deny?” served as a poignant reminder for them amidst their arrogance and aggression.

Surah Ar-Rahman poignantly articulates the countless Blessings of Allah, stirring emotions and evoking tears in those who truly believe.

The Ultimate Truth
Human nature often inclines us to disregard truth. Despite our awareness that worldly possessions are transient, we continue to pursue material wealth fervently. We must recognize that all we possess in this life is temporary—relationships may fade, health may deteriorate, and wealth may vanish. Yet pride often clouds our judgment.

Surah Ar-Rahman repeatedly calls us to gratitude for Allah's Gifts. It reminds us to focus on actions for the Hereafter by engaging in good deeds aimed at pleasing Allah Alone.

Ultimately, memorizing Surah Ar-Rahman can provide a source of peace and tranquility for practicing Muslims. By reflecting on Allah’s various Favours, we can alleviate stress and anxiety while reinforcing our faith.
